28.02.12: A cheeky cat has helped local
woman Angela Croft win top honours in Rotorua District
Council’s annual ‘Fish Out of Water’ competition.
A number of one-metre-long decorated fibreglass fish were placed around the central city over summer and members of the public were then invited to vote for their favourite fish.
Mrs Croft’s entry Too Cool For Cats, a funky black and silver creation complete with a mischievous feline attached has won her top prize of a basket of goodies
Rotorua District Council community arts officer Kiri Jarden says entries for the competition were of a high standard, with designs incorporating hand-made jandals, buttons and rosettes, graffiti, and a submarine.
“The amazing winning entry Too Cool For Cats is now on display at the Convention Centre so the public still has time to enjoy this fantastic art piece.
“Angela has participated in Fish Out of Water for the past four years, and her designs have always been extremely creative and popular, so it’s certainly very cool that the public has voted her design the best this year.”
In second place was Hayley Bilton with Fabulous Fabric Fish, while Julie Voss was placed third with Beached As Bro.
