PRESS RELEASE:
A Golfer’s Dream with an Oriental Twist
Imagine a par 72 golf course
where the distance from the first tee to the 18th hole is
more than 3500 Km.
Then take 4 of the world’s best golfers - World Number Two, Lee Westwood, US Open Winner Rory McIlroy, Ryder Cup hero, Ian Poulter and Chinese Number One, Liang Wen-Chong - and let them loose on your dream course, and you have the “2011 Shui On Land China Golf Challenge”
The course in fact comprises 8 of the finest courses across China from Beijing to Macau.
In the event, described as golf’s answer to the Amazing Race, the “fab four” play just two or three holes at each course before being whisked off to their next challenge, giving the golfing enthusiast a real feel for what China can not only now provide on the fairways but also in the diversity of flavours of the various regions.
Now captured as part of a major 9 week television special, not only do the stars experience some of the most outstanding fairways in the world, they enjoy the scenic beauty and the culture that is today’s China.
Golf is one of the fastest growing, and most expensive status sports in China, and this is reflected in the facilities that are on offer across the country. One course alone boasts that it covers 1.4 million square meters of land and includes 7200 yards of fairways along with 30 thousand imported camphor trees, maples and various seasonal trees.
The “Shui On Land China Golf Challenge 2011” screens on Triangle Television from Friday 9th March at 9:00 pm.
