Christchurch-based Kiwi music legends release song for earthquake appeal
Christchurch-based entertainment legends Tony Williams and Eddie Low have lent their voices and support to raise funds
for The New Zealand Red Cross 2011 Earthquake Appeal.
Williams and Low have been joined in the recording studio by another of New Zealand’s favourite artists, Dennis Marsh,
to record a single called ‘Back on our feet again’, a song dedicated to the people of Christchurch and Canterbury.
Eddie Low has self-funded production of the single but says all proceeds from sales will go to the Red Cross appeal.
“Christchurch and the people in it have been hit really hard,” Mr Low said.
“The earthquakes have taken a terrible toll on our beautiful city and the people here but as the first anniversary of
the February earthquake rolls around there’s a real feeling here now that we’re ready to move on. This song celebrates
that.”
‘Back on our feet again’ was written by Australian songwriter Carter Edwards, with Mr Low penning a moving last chorus
appropriate for Christchurch.
Mr Low said that he and long-time friend and fellow Christchurch resident Mr Williams have wanted to work together on a
fundraiser since the earthquakes began. Their good friend, Auckland-based Dennis Marsh, was happy to be a part of it.
“Tony and I and our wives Helen and Bunny can see the work the Red Cross has done and is continuing to do in our
community and we’re so grateful. Along with Dennis and his wife Yvonne, we really just wanted to help their efforts in
some way,” said Mr Low.
The single will not be available in stores but to receive a copy of this great song and help the people of Canterbury
