Record numbers take part in annual Botany Town Centre Summer Fun Run and Walk
On Sunday 12 February, more than 600 participants took part in the annual Botany Town Centre Summer Fun Run and Walk.
Despite the grey day, a fantastic time was had by all. A number of children crossed the line with mum and dad in tow and there were plenty of prams being pushed through the finishing chute as well.
Event organizer, Frank Clarke from First Tier said the event was a resounding success. “This annual event is going from strength to strength and with a record number of 600 participants, there was a real mixture of people getting out and enjoying themselves. Our aim is to make this one of the premier family fitness events in the Auckland region and we are already planning for an even bigger and better Botany Town Centre Summer Fun Run and Walk in 2013.”
The weather certainly didn’t deter people from taking part or waiting around afterwards to win some great spot prizes. One lucky competitor took home a 42” Panasonic TV. There was also hundreds of dollars’ worth of Botany Town Centre gift cards up for grabs, as well as some prizes generously donated by event sponsors Nike Platinum and Specsavers.
The winners of each event category were also recognized. They were:
