Jenny Gillies returns to Ellerslie with her wearable flowers
Internationally renowned costume and
fabric artist Jenny Gillies returns to next month’s
Ellerslie International Flower Show with A Wonderland of
Wearable Flowers.
Jenny, who wowed the crowds at the 2009 Show with her Wearable Weeds floral artwear collection, says she is excited about being back at Ellerslie and to be exhibiting in Christchurch for the first time in two years.
“For the last three years I have spent a lot of time working on big shows for the Royal Adelaide Show – it will be fantastic to be back showing my works of art in my home town.”
Jenny first exhibited at Ellerslie during the last show held in Auckland in 2007.
She is promising “lots of humour, lots of beauty and lots of colour” with her Wonderland of Wearable Flowers.
Up to 50 garments – the majority of which have never seen before in New Zealand – will be displayed in a wonderland of trees, a landscaped garden created by tree care specialists and arborists Treetech who are sponsoring her Ellerslie exhibit.
“It will be quite spectacular with the costumes exhibited in a landscape of trees and shrubs. Visitors will be able to experience the magic of these floral works of art up close.”
