The Hunt Is On In Wellington

The Hunt Is On In Wellington

12 clues to solve, 12 destinations to find, 12 challenges to complete…

Wellington's wonderful waterfront is set to host the return of The Great Scavenger Hunt on Sunday 22 January, offering a unique and entertaining way to keep the kids happy during the Capital's Anniversary Weekend.

Capital E has organised the event for the third year running as part of the Summer City programme, this year drawing together many new popular waterfront attractions. Families are invited to complete clues to find each location, and at each destination a fun challenge awaits them. In return for completing an obstacle course, writing a verse to a song, making a boat from paper or unraveling a mind puzzle, (tasks from previous years) participants will receive a unique stamp for their map. The city's finest actors and comedians will also be on hand to entertain, help and perhaps even humorously derail the best laid plans of the contestants – in the interests of the best possible fun, of course!

Scavengers can start their hunt from 10am, and are recommended to allow at least 90 minutes, although families are encouraged to choose their pace — take a picnic and make a day of it or split into teams and race to the finish, it’s up to you! Last year the event attracted keen scavengers of all ages with family teams spanning three generations.

But of course, that's not all. Scavengers will be rewarded for their efforts with The Scavenger Hunt Extravaganza taking place at the end of the day from 4pm to 5.30pm in Frank Kitts Park. This year featuring music from The Yoots, a performance from The Junk Monster Puppets, craft activities and plenty of celebratory dancing!
