SUBWAY® Pro Cycling name strong team for criterium
nationals
8 December 2011
SUBWAY® Pro Cycling have named a strong line-up for the RaboDirect Criterium National Championships in Takapuna tomorrow night.
Peter Latham is a two-time winner of the event who along with his Bike NZ Endurance and SUBWAY® Pro Cycling team mate Westley Gough, has recently competed in a tough track camp which should have them both firing for the intensity required for criterium racing.
Latham and Gough will be backed up by Paul Odlin who was good form at last weekend’s Armstrong Motor Group Festival of Cycling Criterium. Odlin rode aggressively on the front of the race winning the first two sprint primes until he crashed out of the race. He was fortunate not to be badly injured and is looking forward to racing in Auckland.
Criterium’s provide fast and furious street circuit racing that is great for spectators, and SUBWAY® Pro Cycling General Manager Hayden Godfrey said he was sure the team would make its presence felt on Friday night.
“The whole team is really amped for this awesome event which has one of the best atmospheres for cycling racing in New Zealand. It’s also one of the last official team races of the season and with a National title up for grabs everyone will be pushing really hard.”
Latham, Gough and Odlin are joined by Nick Lovegrove, Matt Gorter and Jason Allen in the event.
Lovegrove, Allen and Gorter are backing up
after Friday night’s event and racing on Sunday in the HGM
Auckland 1000, the elite race that is part of the
TelstraClear 110
Challenge.
