See The Feelers for Free in Taupō this Summer!
More FM and Events Capital today announced the line up for the free concert series in Taupō this summer, called 'Roadside on Roberts'.
Building on previous years, the 2012 line up includes a diverse mix of local and national acts, including kiwi icon band 'The Feelers' who will play for free in Taupō on Tuesday 3 January.
"This is the fourth consecutive year that Events Capital has provided free lunchtime concerts for Taupō locals and visitors over the busy summer period," explains District Events Manager, Nick Reader. "We really want to provide an exciting and fun opportunity for people to relax and enjoy lunch in the Taupō CBD whilst listening to some of New Zealand's best musical performers live."
The 2012 Roadside on Roberts will be delivered by Mediaworks and the Taupō More FM crew, who have co-ordinated the 14 day series.
"This is a great free activity for Taupō," said Mediaworks Taupō General Manager Penny Lyons. "The More FM crew are out and about over summer with various promotions and activities, and the Roadside on Roberts concerts are just another way that we can help make Taupō the place to be this summer."
Batucada Sound Machine is returning to Taupō as part of the Roadside on Roberts series, having previously performed to sell-out crowds at the 2008 Erupt Lake Taupō Festival. The band has just returned from a global tour where they received accolades from audiences throughout Europe.
"We're thrilled to have secured recognised national acts like Batucada Sound Machine and The Feelers to perform as part of Roadside on Roberts," said Ms Lyons. "We think these bands will really get the crowd up on their feet! We’ve also included lots of Taupō based acts in the mix, as it’s a great opportunity for our local talent to showcase their skills over the busy summer period"
