Santa SoupOpera Charity Concert Adds Warm Glow to Christmas

Santa SoupOpera Charity Concert Adds Warm Glow to Christmas

The annual mission to spread good cheer is well underway at Botany Town Centre, where the community gathered on Thursday 24 November to enjoy the warmth of giving, the spectacular sight of Christmas lights, and spirit-lifting music and entertainment at the Santa SoupOpera Charity Concert.

An institution among the centre’s Yuletide festivities, the concert which is proudly supported by Lions Club of Howick and Eurostar Entertainment, is dedicated to the purpose of Christmas and historically has supported a variety of charities. Lions Club of Howick event organiser, Carel Sietses said all proceeds from this year’s event, including donated food items are yet to be allocated but would go to local charities and community groups.

“The generosity of the local community was overwhelming with both cash and food items having been collected. These donations go a long way in contributing towards the supported charities,” says Mr Sietses.

The concert kicked off at 6.30pm and the evening included entertainment from teen singing sensations Niklas Hansen and Andrew Papas, TribeZ tribal belly dancers, E-PACS Dragon and Lion dance team, plus much more.

“Concert-goers loved this year’s Santa SoupOpera Charity Concert – the highlights included the lighting of our nine-metre Christmas tree, the arrival of Santa, the Yank Tanks on display in Town Centre Drive and a music mix that appealed to the whole family,” says Botany Town Centre senior marketing manager Desiree Clark.
