Wheel Stylish takes fashion up a gear!
On Thursday 17 November, the worlds of fashion and bicycles met in Wheel Stylish, a fashion show celebrating the winning combination of stylish clothing, women and bicycles.
Wheel Stylish in its second year, is an innovative event designed by cycling advocacy group Frocks On Bikes, who promote women embracing bikes as stylish everyday transport.
Frocks On Bikes co-ordinator Isabella Cawthorn was thrilled with the sold-out event, and believes it's just another sign that Wellingtonians and other smart Kiwis are realising they too can enjoy the win-wins of getting around on a bike.
"Wheel Stylish was a glamorous evening that demonstrated the Frocks On Bikes ethos: that stylish cycling is for everyone, for any occasion. The crowd was humming after the show - full of excitement about livening up their summer wardrobes with stylish pieces to start cycling around town in. We're already fielding requests for involvement in next year's Wheel Stylish!"
Wheel Stylish 2011 featured great Wellington fashion houses Starfish, SWonderful, Kowtow, Missy's Room, Kilt, Ziggurat and Emma. Their designs were modelled by gorgeous Wellington women who took to the runway on their beautiful bikes.
The 250-strong crowd enjoyed a unique fashion show on wheels with Northern Soul music from The Souled Out Collective, break dance performances from the Top Secret Crew and the glamorous Holly Ewens (a.k.a Betty Grey of Rosy Tin Teacaddy) as the event MC.
Guests were treated to pre-show appetisers from sponsors Logan Brown and wines by Momo and Grove Mill.
