Media Release 23 November 2011

Big Bullseye Win a Boost for Christchurch Couple

A couple of days after finding out they might have to have their house pulled down due to earthquake damage, a retired Christchurch couple are now celebrating after claiming a $265,000 Bullseye prize.

“We’re overwhelmed and excited, as this prize has come at such a good time,” says the winner.

The couple, who wish to remain anonymous, are regular Bullseye players and purchased their winning ticket at Paper Plus Ferrymead in Christchurch.

“I was just making dinner, when my husband decided to check the results online. Next thing he was yelling out for me to come and have a look,” said the winning woman.

“I was gobsmacked when I read our number and didn’t believe it. I had to check the ticket at least three times.

“That night I slept with the ticket under my pillow to keep it safe. I figured no one would disturb me in my sleep,” laughs the winner.

“The next morning we got up really early and took it to the store we had purchased it from to claim our prize.

“The staff were so nice and were just as excited as us. We even got a bottle of wine from them!” she said.

The couple plan on now investing their winnings somewhere safer than a under a pillow, while they wait to find out what happens to their house.

“We are thinking of treating ourselves to a new cellphones and maybe an iPad in the meantime,” adds the happy winner.
