Martinborough Festival Readies for Celebration
With days to go, all tickets sold and orders placed for fine weather, Toast Martinborough organisers are ready to host New Zealand’s premier wine, food and music festival.
On Sunday 20 November, 10,000 ticketholders will descend on the small Wairarapa community to celebrate the festival’s 20th anniversary. Organisers are promising a birthday party to remember, with 11 participating vineyards offering fine wines, superb food and live music all day long.
The anniversary celebrations have already begun with the festival’s ‘Ultimate Fan’ competition. Winner Michelle Potter of Wellington has attended 17 of the 19 events, and this year will be accompanied by her husband (who proposed to her during the 2009 festival) and baby daughter.
“Michelle is one of thousands who’ve made Toast Martinborough a must-do annual outing,” says Rachael Fletcher, Toast Martinborough’s General Manager. “We’re delighted to welcome her back for our 20th festival – to celebrate an amazing milestone for the Martinborough wine community."
Highlights of Toast Martinborough 2011 include the opportunity to discover a ‘Golden Ticket’. Worth $1,000, the prize comprises free francs, wine, a helicopter flight over the festival and a personal ‘Toast butler’ to cater to the winner’s every whim on the day.
