Civic Events and Hauraki Present:

The Exponents 30 Year Anniversary Concert Tour

The Exponents – formerly The Dance Exponents – played a spectacular and nostalgic show to a sell out crowd at the Speights Ferrymead Ale House in Christchurch this evening to celebrate 30 years from the date of their first gig in 1981 – “back where it all began”.

To mark this three decade milestone, this quintessential Kiwi rock band also announced a 28 date, 30 Year Anniversary Concert Tour kicking off in March 2012, heading as far South as Invercargill and as far North as Whangarei.

The Exponents have collected numerous awards over the last 30 years, with their major hits, including "Why Does Love Do This To Me", "Who Loves Who The Most", "Victoria", "I'll Say Goodbye (Even Though I'm Blue)" and "Whatever Happened To Tracey" part of the fabric of life for generations of Kiwis.

To further celebrate the band’s 30 year anniversary, November 14th will see the release of Why Does Love Do This To Me: The Exponents Greatest Hits – a collection of the 24 biggest hits from one of New Zealand’s most loved bands. This also includes a brand new track, ‘It’s Rugby’, which was recorded specifically for this release.

Front man Jordan Luck can’t wait to get on the road and visit some of his favourite haunts with the band:

"A 30th Anniversary Tour? I never saw that coming. From happy adversity to sublime celebration, I'm just pleased we're alive. We have always been in touch. Me, David & Brian just celebrated our 50th Birthdays together so being 30 years old seems like being a Pup. The songs however seem like they were written today or at least in the last week. That is the way I imagine we will play them too “.

“Touring?” he continues, “Me, as most will know, I am match fit. Dave and Harry are in impressive health. Harry is still a skateboarding genius & David musters his Llamas every morning. Brian has been dedicating his time to The School Of Gretsch where he tutors. If we play well (we will) & behave well (we may not) I prognosticate a tour in 2021."

Says co-promoter Brent Eccles, “It’s very exciting to be involved in The Exponents 30 Year Anniversary Concert Tour. The band is much loved by the New Zealand public and NZ radio. It’s the longest tour we’ve ever promoted in New Zealand and I couldn’t imagine missing a show!”

The Exponents 30 Year Anniversary Concert Tour will see the band perform in Timaru, Dunedin, Gore, Invercargill, Queenstown, Oamaru, Christchurch, Nelson, Wellington, Lower Hutt , Wanganui, Palmerston North, New Plymouth, Rotorua, Napier, Hastings, Gisborne, Opotoki, Coroglen, Tauranga, Papamoa, Whakatane, Hamilton, North Shore City (Auckland), Mangawhai & Whangarei, commencing in Timaru on Friday 9th March and concluding in Whangarei on Tuesday 10 April.

Tickets are on sale from Monday 21st November and ticketing information is available from the band’s official website http://theexponents.com/.

The 24 track Greatest Hits album will be available on 14th November.

There will be a big Auckland show announcement on Tuesday 15 November.
