Trade me bidders help Anchor raise $2,000 for the New Zealand Red Cross
Anchor, one of New Zealand's oldest and most iconic brands is celebrating its 125th birthday this November, and instead
of receiving presents, Anchor are set to write out a cheque for $2,000 to the New Zealand Red Cross 2011 Earthquake
Appeal.
As part of their celebrations, Anchor created a limited edition commemorative half pint jug and sold them on Trade Me.
The proceeds will be donated to the New Zealand Red Cross 2011 Earthquake Appeal.
The jugs were snapped up by kiwis all around the country, with a large percentage of the winners coming from rural
areas.
"Being born and raised on a Dairy farm, I grew up with the Anchor brand as an integral part of my heritage," says Liz
Johnson of Lakeside Farms in Hamilton. "When I was a young newly-wed, my father-in-law Allen Johnson bought my husband
and I a silver butter knife with the Anchor brand on it, the knife was created to commemorate Anchor's 100th anniversary
and I have used it ever since. I was so excited to see the Anchor jugs on Trade Me, and it was an added bonus that all
the proceeds went to support the Red Cross," says Liz.
20 commemorative Anchor Half Pints were sold on Trade Me over August and September 2011.
