Something big is about to hit the catwalk this summer
On 11/11/11 two iconic New Zealand brands will join together to create the first ever plus sized fashion show for both
men and women.
It's a perfect marriage of brands, The Carpenter's Daughter (TCD) has been clothing New Zealand's curvy girls for the
last 21 years, and BeggsXL Big and Tall have been doing the same for the men for the last 78 years. Combining their 99
years of experience, the duo is set to create a spectacular fashion show for Auckland's curvy glitterati.
"I'm so excited about this show," says Caroline Marr, Creative Director at TCD. "Not only is it set on a symbolic date,
but it gives us an opportunity to get our hands on the menfolk and show them how it's done," she says.
TCD were the first plus sized label ever to be invited to show at New Zealand Fashion Week and have a few tricks up
their sleeves that they can share with first timers Beggs. In the typical TCD style, 'real' models will be used for the
catwalk show, and Marr will be encouraging Beggs to reach out to their loyal customers to come and join them on the
catwalk.
"We work closely with our clients but this is the first time we have put on a show for them" says Dave Perkin, Managing
Director of BeggsXL Big and Tall. "We are hoping to show the men how great they can look with small changes to their
wardrobe," he says.
The show will be held at The Hopetown Alpha in Beresford Street, tickets are $30 each and are available from TCD and
Beggs stores.
