Shell Helix fuels trip to the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix for lifelong loyal customer

Auckland, New Zealand - 14 October 2011 - A Temuka man has won a trip for two to the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix as part of Shell Helix's biggest ever global promotion to celebrate its technical partnership with Ferrari.

The "Fastest 48 Hours of Your Life" winner, Barrie Burnett and his wife will witness first-hand the Shell Helix-lubricated Ferrari F150 cars of Fernando Alonso and Felipe Massa in action at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix in the penultimate event in the 2011 Formula One calendar. They'll also experience a VIP trip to Ferrari World - the world's largest indoor theme park with more than 20 Ferrari-inspired rides and attractions. These include the ultimate F1 race car simulation - an experience so real that it is used to train F1 drivers - the world's fastest rollercoaster and an interactive, recreated Shell trackside laboratory.

"I was absolutely flabbergasted, still am," says Burnett, a certified driver and batcher for Firth Concrete, of his reaction to the win.

"I've been using Shell Helix oils for as long as I can remember. I entered the competition a few months back because I thought the prize looked fantastic and then promptly forgot about it!"

Burnett, who loves F1 Grand Prix racing but rarely gets the time to watch, enjoys working on engines and is currently restoring a 1965 Mini Mach 1.

"As well as seeing the race, I'm looking forward to seeing what goes on behind the scenes - I can only imagine the kind of scientific detail that goes into getting those Ferraris in their best racing condition."

Burnett and his wife Robyn, who has never been out of New Zealand, were presented with the winner's 'cheque' yesterday at the Super Cheap Auto on Evans Street in Timaru. The retailer - which sold the winning bottle of Shell Helix oil to Burnett - put on a public barbecue on to celebrate.

Bruce Winter, Marketing Manager of Orica, the sole distributor of Shell lubricants in New Zealand, also came to Timaru for the celebration. He says, "It's wonderful that this prize has gone to a loyal Shell Helix customer.

"It will be a unique, adrenaline-filled experience that will give an insider's view into the world of Formula One racing. For those of us not heading to Abu Dhabi, it's good to know that the same active cleansing technology developed for Ferrari Formula One oil is transferred to our road products for us all to use."
