Red Hot Chilli Pipers tickets selling fast

One of the most famous bagpipe groups in the world to play a Dunedin concert tomorrow as part of the Dunedin Celtic Arts Festival.

The Red Hot Chilli Pipers will play one Dunedin concert on Saturday, 1 October at 5pm at the Dunedin Town Hall. Tickets for the event are selling quickly with over 1,000 tickets sold.

“It is a bit of a coup to get this great act at this time. There is a considerable degree of enthusiasm among the piping community already,” said Festival Coordinator, Mike Moroney.

“We are really excited to come to the southern version of Edinburgh! Being part of Celtic festivals is also something that we really enjoy. When we play to Celtic audiences throughout the world it is like playing to a home audience. The atmosphere and vibe are always superb and always lifts the band. I am sure that Dunedin will be the same and the band will pull off one of those gigs that people will remember for years. Roll on the 1st of October!” said band member and organiser, Kevin Macdonald.

Formed in 2002, the Red Hot Chilli Pipers have fast become a global phenomenon, taking their signature 'Bagrock' sound to the masses. They have rocked far-flung shores from New York to Beijing and everywhere in between with their unique fusion of rocked up Bagpipes and clever covers of popular songs from all genres. They were winners of the Scottish ‘Live Act of the Year’ in 2007 and 2010.

They also did trips around the globe to Saudi Arabia, Malaysia, Europe and India which saw the band cement their reputation as one of the most exciting live acts around.

Tickets for the concert are $47 for adults and $37 for senior citizens, students and groups of 6 or more and are available from TicketDirect, www.ticketdirect.co.nz, phone 0800 4 TICKET or visit the Regent Theatre, Dunedin (a booking fee applies). Door sales will be available from 4pm on Saturday.
