Extra transport for fans heading to Scotland v England

Extra trains and special event buses will again be operating for fans heading to Saturday's Scotland v England Rugby World Cup 2011 match at Eden Park.

Similar plans to last weekend's Eden Park double-header will be in place tomorrow, including 100 extra special event buses running from Britomart and 100 additional train services to and from Eden Park. On Sunday extra trains and special event buses will be available for people heading to Mt Smart Stadium to watch the Warriors in the NRL Grand Final. A fare will apply for these services.

From 4.30pm tomorrow fans heading to Scotland v England can jump on one of the 100 extra special event buses from outside Britomart. Trains and special event buses are free with a match ticket from 5.30pm. Kick-off is at 8.30pm and gates open at 6pm.

Train operator Veolia Transport also has strengthened contingency arrangements in place, including standby trains and buses. Passenger volumes will be monitored throughout the day at stations.

As a safety precaution the speed limit on New North Rd through Kingsland Village will be 30km/h for three hours before kick-off, part of New North Rd will then be closed from kick-off until two hours after the match.

People should expect the transport system to be busy as people travel to the match and to the Queen's Wharf Fanzone.

For those going to the match the most important thing to do is travel early to beat the crowds.
