McDonald's launches choice new flick rugby game
Just because New Zealanders are reaching fever pitch with all things rugby, McDonald's has launched its digital take on
everybody's favourite school desk game, coin rugby.
The Flick Rugby Facebook app uses a Macca's table as the field and players have two three minute halves to score as
many tries as they can. The aim is to get the coin across the table in three flicks or less, navigating hazards
including Kiwiburgers, beetroot, Frozen L spills, Kiwi Pavs and Kiwi Brekkie McMuffins.
Once players score a try they have the chance to go for the conversion, flicking the coin between two Frozen L goal posts - but they have to make sure they allow for the wind! If players rack up enough points to beat Team Macca's
they can qualify to win one of hundreds of McDonald's product vouchers, including the iconic Kiwiburger and new products
like the Kiwi Brekkie McMuffin and Frozen L
"The 'Just because...' campaign we're running at the moment reflects New Zealanders' heightened patriotic spirit and
celebrates what makes us as Kiwis unique," explains Jules Lloyd, McDonald's Director of Marketing. "We're connecting
with a huge number of customers through our Facebook page, and wanted to create a digital extension to the campaign.
Most New Zealanders will remember playing coin rugby and this is our modern take on the game."
