Artworks - A Celebration Of New Zealand Art
New Zealanders are being invited to celebrate New Zealand's extraordinary artistic talent and support a worthy cause at
this year's Artworks Exhibition.
The event will take place at St Matthew-in-the-City church in Auckland from Wednesday 21st to Friday 23rd September and
is open daily from 10.30am until 4pm.
Works from more than 100 different New Zealand artists will be on show at the event, which includes the unique
'Treasures' collection, an assortment of never seen before drawings and sketchings from renowned New Zealand artists
including Dick Frizzell, Bill Hammond, Dame Louise Henderson and Max Gimblett.
Artworks Spokesperson John Wren says, "The exhibition provides art enthusiasts and collectors the opportunity to view
and purchase one-off works from some of our most celebrated artists.
"We have extraordinarily talented artists in this country and to be able to provide the opportunity to showcase and
share their works with the public, which have been kindly shared to raise money for some very worthy charities, is the
icing on the cake."
Since 2002, the annual Artworks Exhibitions have been organised by the Rotary Club of Ellerslie Sunrise Inc, and have
raised more than $1.1 million for charity on top of providing New Zealand artists with over $1.7 million of income.
This year a VIP gala opening and a range of master classes will also be held for art lovers on a range of specialist
topics. In addition to this is HSBC Fusion, an invitation only exhibition of Kim Meek's works which have been inspired
by music from the New Zealand String Quartet.
The charity proceeds from all Artworks Exhibition sales will go to the Auckland Medical Research Foundation whose
mission is to improve the health and wellbeing of all New Zealanders and future generations, the Pindrop Foundation
which helps New Zealanders suffering with hearing loss and local Rotary projects.
