Youthtown Celebrates Children's Literacy at Storylines Festival
Youthtown got behind the Auckland Storylines Festival in the weekend to celebrate all things pertaining to children's
literature and book illustration.
It's the fifth year the organisation has supported the annual family event which is run by the Children's Literature
Charitable Trust of New Zealand.
The festival was held at the Auckland Museum on Sunday [Eds: 28 August]. Attendees got to meet a range of New Zealand
authors, hear live story tellers and engage in a range of exciting literary and craft activities.
Youthtown ran a workshop at the event which encouraged kids to create posters around the themes of books and reading
Youthtown CEO, Keith Thorpe, says; "Providing children and youth with creative experiences is one of the cornerstones of
our organisation and so the Storylines Festival was a natural fit for us.
"We applaud the festival's dedication to encourage youngsters to embrace the all-important skills of reading and writing
in a creative and fun way."
