Fire sculptures set to bring Petone Foreshore alive
Six fiery sculptures will return to fire up Petone Foreshore next month during the iconic Petone Carnival.
For the fifth consecutive year, the Rotary Club of Hutt City Fire Sculptures will be one of the main attractions at the
annual event which this year is on Saturday 10 September to coincide with the nationwide REAL New Zealand Festival.
Local artists will spend the day of the Carnival constructing the sculptures along the foreshore, before setting them
alight in a spectacular evening display beginning at 7:15pm.
This year, artists will have the added challenge of building their sculptures to a rugby theme to celebrate the spirit
of the sport.
Some of the works will reach over three metres tall and will attract lots of spectators from the expected Carnival crowd
of more than 40,000 people.
The Carnival will end with a bang after the burning of the sculptures as the Pelorus Trust Fireshow lights up the sky
with some of the best pyrotechnics Wellington has to offer.
Petone Carnival kicks off at 2pm featuring something to delight the whole family – from carnival rides, delicious food,
