NZ ranked fifteenth in medal tally at World University Games

With the closing Ceremony of the World University Summer Games concluding in Shenzhen, China last evening. New Zealand was ranked fifteenth overall.
The World University Games saw over 8000 competitors from 150 nations competing at the Universiade 2011, with over 50 students from around New Zealand’s Universities attending.
University Sport New Zealand would like to formally congratulate all of the athletes, coaches, team managers and medical staff for their hard work, dedication, time commitment and expense in attending the summer Universiade in Shenzhen China from 12-23 August 2001.
Alayna Carter, Executive Director at University Sport said “’it has been the most successful New Zealand team ever with a whopping 12 medals, all from the swimming pool a stunning effort”.
