A Fundraising Story Wednesday 24 August
The latest filmmaking experiment from New Zealand director Florian Habicht, already being hailed as a classic, will be
shown as a fundraiser for Downtown Community Ministry (DCM). The Rotary Club of Courtenay Place are hosting the event on
Tuesday 13 September, at Paramount Theatre.
DCM supporters are encouraged to buy tickets and promote the event to their friends and family as we need your help to
make this a successful event.
“Stephanie came and talked to our Rotary Club earlier in the year, and we were all really impressed with the awesome
work that DCM does. We are dedicated to helping and doing good within our community,” says Nicola Byrne, director of
special projects for the Rotary Club of Courtenay Place.
“When we were choosing a charity for this fundraiser, the club was unanimous that it should be DCM that gets our
support,” she says.
The movie showing will be “Love Story”, directed by New Zealander Florian Habicht and set in New York. It is described
as a delightfully idiosyncratic film, a love letter to New York and its people as well as a clever deconstruction of the
filmmaking process.
“This is another great opportunity for people to support DCM and is a way to raise awareness of our work in the
community. We appreciate the involvement of the Rotary Club of Courtenay Place in organising this event,” says Stephanie
McIntyre, director of DCM.
The event begins at 6.30pm, for a 7pm movie start. Bubbles can be purchased by gold coin donation, and there will be
lucky seat prizes. Tickets are just $20 each. You can book over the phone by credit card, and the tickets will be sent
to you in the post.
