Gregory King Wins Eisenhower Fellowship
High profile barrister and host of TV7’s Court Report, Gregory King, has been invited by the Eisenhower Exchange Fellowships of Philadelphia to become New Zealand’s latest Eisenhower Fellow. The prestigious fellowship is for emerging leaders from around the world who have the potential to make important contributions to their society.
Mr King will have the unique opportunity to travel around the continental United States for two months early next year meeting professional counterparts and pursuing individual interests. Only 22 fellows of different nationalities are invited each year and Mr King will join them at the beginning and end of his programme for seminars, which will lay the foundation for life long international friendship and cooperation.
Previous Eisenhower Fellows include Paula Bennett, Minister of Social Development and Employment, Susan Baragwanath, founder of schools for teenage mothers in New Zealand, Trevor Taylor CEO of Outward Bound NZ and Dr Paul Tapsell of the University of Otago. Mr King is the 17th New Zealander chosen since the founding of the fellowship in 1953.
The chairperson of the Nominating Committee, Bernardine Vester says,
“The Eisenhower Fellowship provides members with opportunities to grow their leadership in their respective fields. Greg has already demonstrated leadership in his field and I am delighted that he is willing to grow that through the Fellowship. On behalf of the other alumni, I welcome Greg King to the New Zealand network.
Mr King will take up his fellowship in March 2012.
