Host! A Feast For The Court

1-4 September 2011

From Sydney to Auckland, Dunedin to Wellington, even London and New York – in a few weeks time fundraising dinners will be held all over the world to support The Court Theatre’s new development in Addington.

Called Host!, the idea is that hosts hold a dinner – it could be fish and chips or a six course extravaganza – and they will ask guests to make a donation to The Court’s rebuild. $4.6m is needed in order for the theatre to open in December this year. Court Theatre Chief Executive, Philip Aldridge says hosting a meal is a great way for people to have some fun and help the theatre.

“Some people are having drinks parties while others are throwing gourmet feasts. Others are having friends round for morning tea. It’s an opportunity to do whatever suits you and your friends while having some fun and rebuilding the theatre that is at the heart of this community.”

“The theatre is all about community and entertainment and we wanted to find a way of raising funds while reflecting that. No doubt there will also be some candid observations and truthful insights into the human condition that will also be expressed – which is fine because the theatre does that too”.

Most events will be over the first week of Spring, 1-4 September but they can also be at any time. “Have some fun and help The Court!” says Aldridge.
