Platinum Drama Success
NZ On Air is celebrating the success of its Platinum Fund drama investments with Billy achieving record ratings for TV One .
Billy, the biopic television feature about Billy T James, attracted more than 730,000 viewers, building on the success of the previous week's popular Platinum drama Tangiwai.
And the good news doesn't stop there with Bliss (the Katherine Mansfield story) and Rage (about the 1981 Springbok tour) due to screen on Sunday nights on TV One in the weeks ahead.
"The Platinum Fund allows us to support projects we wouldn't otherwise be able to" says NZ On Air Chief Executive Jane Wrightson. "It's great to see audiences are really enjoying the special and diverse content that is being made by very skilled producers".
It's not just the one-off dramas catching eyes - Underbelly:Land of the Long Green Cloud was well received by audiences and critics alike when it debuted on TV 3 last week. Underbelly has also been supported through the Platinum Fund and still has five more episodes for viewers to enjoy.
