New dates announced for 2012 iD Dunedin Fashion Week

iD Dunedin Fashion Week announced new dates for 2012 at an exclusive launch held in association with Dunedin's Golden
Centre Mall on Thursday 18 August 2011. Celebrating its 13th year, the week is an international platform for rising
national and global fashion talent and will take place from 27 March - 1 April 2012 in Dunedin, New Zealand.
iD Dunedin Fashion Week committee member Margo Barton said the dates had been brought forward slightly into March, 2012.
This would allow the week of professional fashion events, runway shows and an international fashion awards competition
to take place before Easter.
"The new dates will assist emerging talent, designers and international guests to include iD on their fashion calendar
of events. We would like to continue to build on the success we have seen over the past two years with our high profile
guests including British fashion icon Zandra Rhodes, Australia's finest Akira Isogawa and Charlotte Smith with her
Darnell Collection. We are in the process of securing international designers and guests, with some exciting
announcements to be made shortly."
Margo Barton indicated the organising committee is currently in discussion with sponsors to allow the 2012 event to run
to its full capacity. Many existing sponsors are already reconfirming for 2012.
"We are pleased to announce that Redken will continue their partnership with iD for 2012. Redken are a longstanding
sponsor of more than ten years and we truly value their support, expertise and creative direction they bring to the
runway shows." However, she stressed that more sponsorship was needed and the committee was keen to hear from potential
sponsors including a naming rights sponsor.
Now in its second year, the highlight of the exclusive launch was a fashion show with a sneak preview of upcoming
spring/summer fashion collections by successful Dunedin designers and stockists including Lela Jacobs, Company of
Strangers, Silk Body, Charmaine Reveley, Carlson, Vaughan Geeson (Waughs), DADA, I Love Paris and Hype. The collections
were showcased by local talent from Ali McD Modelling Agency.
Aart on St Andrew's stylists featured hair trends direct from Australian Fashion Week during the evening, providing
creative inspiration for new spring and summer styles. Aart on St Andrew will work with Redken's creative team alongside
other New Zealand top salons during 2012 iD Dunedin Fashion Week.
Attendees received goodie bags during the evening. Spot prizes were provided by Revlon, Life Pharmacy and Dunedin's
Golden Centre Mall. Retail outlets I Love Paris, Hype, Stewart Dawsons and Stax remained open until 9pm, offering a 20%
discount on all purchases made.

The launch event attracted a capacity audience of 200 and commenced at 6.30pm on Thursday 18 August in Dunedin's Golden
