Magnificent Dyslexic Album Release - Monday 22 August
Auckland Release party - Thursday 25 August
Wellington Release party - Saturday 27 August
A new addition to the culture capital’s colorful crown Wellington based Bohemian Thought emerges with his debut full
length album ‘ Magnificent Dyslexic’ which he will release on Dharma Records on the 22nd of August.
To celebrate the release of his debut album Bohemian is throwing 2 indo-afro-caribbean costume release parties -
Thursday the 25th of August at Khuja in Auckland and Saturday the 27th at San Fran Bathhouse in Wellington. Bohemian
will perform live, accompanied by his 9 piece band and special guests - Nat Rose & The Babystep Soundsystem in Auckland and Rio Hemopo, Imon Starr, The Newtown Soundsystem - DJ Dozen in Wellington.
Ancestrally hailing from Nigeria Bohemian is blessed with the gift of dyslexia which as a young adult saw him put music
aside and instead carve himself a place within the IT industry in London. His dyslexia slipped past almost unnoticed in
this world and within this realm he thrived in one way while spiritually starving himself in others.
Curiously at some point during this time Bohemian found words coming to him in the forms of songs which unearthed
previously disregarded feelings within himself and inspired him to pursue music. After a brief foray into the spoken
word, theatre and poetry scenes in London this new inspiration led Bohemian on a whirlwind journey that landed him in
New Zealand in 2006.
A spoken word poet, singer, songwriter and percussionist (aka poetic philosopher) Bohemian connected with the local
Wellington soul, funk, jazz and reggae scenes. After stints spent jamming with Batucada, Sam Manzanza & the Rhythm Africa Band and Olmecha Supreme, Bohemian Thought arrived at a space to develop his own songs with the
assistance of Auckland producer Brofessional, The Urban Soul Orchestra (UK), studio engineer Benny Tones and a host of
accomplished local musicians.
Bohemian aims to inspire understanding and acceptance through his music which he has termed “true soul” music. A work of
true inspiration steeped in triumph over personal struggle, Bohemian Thought delivers a positive message with his debut
album ‘Magnificent Dyslexic’ to be released in New Zealand through Dharma Records / Southbound on the 22nd of August
2011.
