For Immediate Release
Locals Challenge: 12-14 November 2011
The Tuatapere Hump Ridge Track was built and is managed by the Tuatapere community. All profits are used to fund community projects and initiatives. To celebrate a truly local track, we're inviting our Southland/Fiordland/Otago neighbours to come and experience a bit of their own back-yard. On 12 November 2011 we will be holding a special 'locals only' walk of the Hump Ridge Track at a discount rate. The Hump Ridge Locals Challenge is a true reflection of Kiwis' love of tramping and the 'can do' attitude of a small rural community.
The top three excuses for locals not walking the Hump Ridge Track: I can't afford it, I'm too busy, I'm not fit enough!
• You can afford it! For just $140 you get full access to the track, bunk-room accommodation at the lodges, a hot shower at each lodge, plus brekkie and a fabulous two-course evening meal each day. Of course, if you'd like a little more luxury, all our usual upgrades (heli-packing, track transport & premium rooms) are available as added extras.
• You're not too busy! According to the farming calendar, mid-November is a relatively quiet period...a perfect time to go for a tramp in fact. With the Rugby World Cup over, you’ll also be looking for something else to fill your time.
• You can be fit enough! With a local personal trainer we will be offering a 10-week build-up to the Hump Ridge Challenge & giving participants a suggested programme to increase fitness in preparation for the walk.
The Hump Ridge Challenge will cost from just $140 per person. Offer only available to Southland/Fiordland/Otago residents and limited numbers apply so get in quick for the bargain of the season!
