Phoenix Tickets On Sale Next Week
Tickets to the Wellington Phoenix game at Forsyth Barr Stadium will go on sale next week.
The Phoenix, travelling to Dunedin for the southern most professional football game ever, will play the current A-League champions, the Brisbane Roar in a pre-match game in August.
Forsyth Barr CEO David Davies is enthusiastic about the prospect of having two top A-League teams in Dunedin. “This is a really exciting opportunity for Dunedin. These are two premier teams from the A League and this is the first time professional football has been played this far south. We hope to see a great crowd for the event.”
In an effort to keep with the Phoenix’s reputation as having the best sporting atmosphere in New Zealand sport, fan areas will be specially zoned allowing patrons to determine their own event experience.
Official fan, family and club zones will be designated that will allow patrons to pre-select their own experience. David Davies said that fan zones are an important part of the Wellington Phoenix experience.
“Using ticketed zones within the Stadium will offer patrons a more personalised experience. In keeping with tradition, the fan zone will be known as the ‘Yellow Fever Zone’ and we hope to see some of the fervour and excitement that the Yellow Fever are renowned for. We expect the fan zone to be loud, colourful and a little bit cheeky – creating an atmosphere that will be uniquely football.”
“Keeping the prices affordable and allowing like minded fans to sit together enhances their experience and also means that we can keep families and groups together, so everybody enjoys the event and feels comfortable in their surroundings.”
“We’ll use this to test the venue and ensure everything is running smoothly as we prepare for Rugby World Cup 2011.”
Tickets to the game will go on sale from 9am, Wednesday 20 July and fans will be able to select to sit in the “Yellow Fever” or family zones at the time of purchase.
The match kicks off on Saturday 20 August at 5.30pm.
