HAPPY FEET in 4-D – putting best foot forward for Christchurch

OPENING SATURDAY 16TH JULY

Prepare to toe tap right into adventure with the all-new Happy Feet 4-D Experience!

CHRISTCHURCH, NEW ZEALAND – The award-winning movie Happy Feet will open in Christchurch next week as a 4-D experience at the International Antarctic Centre, starting on Saturday, July 16.

The 12-minute film/show is based upon Warner Bros. Pictures’ and Village Roadshow Pictures’ Academy Award®-winning film Happy Feet. Combining the excitement of digital 3-D projection with 4-D multi-sensory effects, Happy Feet 4-D Experience! brings a young penguin’s adventure to life including snow, wind, bubbles, scents and more.

Ten per cent of all Happy Feet 4D entry ticket sales will be donated to the Christchurch Earthquake Appeal.

Richard Benton, director, International Antarctic Centre, said the opening weekend of Happy Feet 4-D Experience! will include a variety of special events for the public.

“Visitors will be transported into the icy Antarctic world where they will meet Mumble—a heartwarming, tap-dancing penguin. Initially an outcast, Mumble soon realises that his dancing talent isn’t a burden but a gift to be treasured—and that his dancing feet may ultimately save his endangered colony,” he said.

The movie features the voices of Robin Williams, Elijah Wood, Nicole Kidman and Hugh Jackman.

“Rangers will be at the New Zealand Penguin exhibit throughout the day presenting interesting facts about our own penguin residents and our new addition to the Encounter called Morgan. He was the penguin who did not want to swim but already he has found a partner in the Encounter called Parnia and has turned the corner and is swimming for the first time,” he said.

Tickets to see Happy Feet 4D are $10 for adults and $8 for children and are in addition to the normal entry prices. Tickets can only be purchased on-site at the International Antarctic Centre, and are limited and only available on a first come first serve basis.
