27th June 2011 – You too can look a little silly for a serious cause from tomorrow when CureKids Red Nose Day iPhone application will be available to mark the beginning of “Red Nose Day month”.
The Red Nose Day Application lets you take photos and add distinct fun features to change the look of your photo. Add crazy hair wild eyes and of course a silly Red Nose to you, your kids, dogs… whoever!
Cure Kids’ Red Nose Day is a “fun” national campaign that celebrates local communities, embraces the light-hearted Kiwi culture, and supports the children across New Zealand. A simple idea created over two decades ago, the campaign encourages everyone to let go, laugh, and be silly...all for a serious cause. Funds raised through Cure Kids Red Nose Day will be invested in vital medical research into childhood illnesses.
Cure Kids funds innovative, results-driven research that brings hope to children and families throughout New Zealand. Whether it be research to develop a new diagnostic test or a national screening programme, or research to bring a new medical treatment to the market, their ultimate goal is always to find a cure.
Appd. Solutions Ltd (Appd.) was founded by three young Kiwi Engineers who had a vision to aid charities to enter the 21st Century, by targeting the technologically savvy generation and raising awareness of charities.
“Thank you New Zealand for supporting Red Nose Day. Your involvement with this campaign will help us fund outcome driven research to find cures for our Kiwi kids who live with life-threatening illnesses. By downloading this application and posting your photos you are sending a message across the country that these children are not alone in their fight.”
Cure Kids CEO, Vicki Lee
One child who will benefit from the research that Cure Kids funds is Tamilla Khan. Tamilla is one of the many children in New Zealand who lives with Leukaemia and Cure Kids continues to fund Leukaemia research at Otago University, Dunedin including the zebra fish facility and its equipment.
“Wow look at me! This is an awesome Red Nose Day photo; I can’t wait to share with the kids at school. Thanks guys for supporting Cure Kids!” Cure Kids Ambassador, Tamilla Khan
