Tickets On Sale For First Event

Tickets to the first event in the Forsyth Barr Stadium will go on sale on Wednesday morning marking an important milestone in the countdown to completion.

North Otago will play West Coast in what will be Dunedin’s newly completed covered Stadium, in the opening weekend of the 2011 Heartland Championship.

David Davies, CEO, Forsyth Barr Stadium is delighted North Otago and the West Coast are coming to Dunedin and is looking forward to the being able to test the Stadium prior to the Rugby World Cup 2011.

“This will be an exciting and historic day for the community and entire region. After a 26 month construction phase, the much anticipated Stadium project will be open and people will be able to come together and experience it for themselves.

“This game is also a really important test event for the Stadium and our staff in the lead up to RWC 2011. It’s important we understand as much as possible about the Stadium to give us time to iron out any of the minor teething problems that are inevitable in a brand new venue.

“The traffic management plan, ticketing systems, technology and staff will all be operational for the first time and we’ll be monitoring everything very closely. It is natural to expect some learning’s to come out of this very first event. We’ll take what we learn and grow from the experience as we move to future events.

“We anticipate a good turn out and encourage everyone to get there early to get familiar with the venue and really enjoy the atmosphere in New Zealand’s newest Stadium.”

Tickets will be on sale at www.ticketdirect.co.nz from 9am Wednesday 22 June. Kickoff is at 2.05pm on Sunday 7 August.
