Discover Recipe for Success with Teens in Just 5 Minutes a Day Claims Teen
Book Review
Socrates once said "Our youth now love luxury. They have bad manners, contempt for authority; they show disrespect for
their elders and love chatter in place of exercise; they no longer rise when elders enter the room; they contradict
their parents, chatter before company; gobble up their food and tyrannize their teachers."
New Zealand's author, family coach and speaker Eva-Maria is at it again, to show that young people can be trusted, and
relationships can be formed with the breed we call youth.
The 20 year old's first book 'You Shut Up!' that sold out in stores within days after her Close Up debut in December
2007 raised eyebrows and increased interest in what teenagers really have to say about our parenting in the 21st
century. The book featured case studies and scenarios the 2st teenager is faced with every single day, in hope that
parents can see where they go wrong and take advice from a teenager herself about how to improve relationships with
their teenagers.
The second book, will be launched at the Upper Hutt City Council annual Parenting Expo that attracts hundreds each year.
The sequel 'Shush, You!' is a compilation of stories from youth, parents, employers, teachers, counsellors and some of
New Zealand's leaders about how they have improved relationships with generations, and what youth can do to achieve
their goals, and to help parents learn from others about how to build better communication and understanding with the
younger generations.
The real point of difference in this book is that in between the stories and quotes, there lie pearls of wisdom about
the small things adults can do to start and keep building better relationships with youth. And Eva-Maria promises that
these actions can take as little as 5 minutes a day to execute.
Eva-Maria comments "I wanted people to read it and say "Wow - I've never thought of looking at this subject in that
light." or "Hey, maybe I can try this next time I'm arguing with a teen.". The people who contributed are all experts in
their field, and I am tremendously grateful to them for sharing their honest contributions. On top of the examples, I
hope this book gives readers many, many ideas and perspectives on how they too, can join in and start building those
better relationships in as little as 5 minutes a day. If it takes an angry glance, or a quick swear word to completely
ruin the relationship, why can't adults build better relationships faster?"
The Parenting Expo is inviting everyone to come and hear Eva-Maria deliver her keynote '3 Biggest Teenage Secrets' and
join with the book launch that will open the event.
"I hope this book has an even bigger impact on our society, and I want to see more people finding more effective ways of
communicating with the younger generations. Adults' motivation for being good to youth is that 'one day they will be
choosing their rest home' but I ask everyone to put that aside, and perhaps take a different approach and understand
that the quicker adults forge better relationships with youth, youth will stand a chance of having a much better, and
brighter future than what we are expected to have." says Eva-Maria.
