After the Quake, with Nigel Latta
Television special to help Christchurch parents deal with traumatised children
Clinical psychologist and bestselling author Nigel Latta will present a television special to help New Zealand parents
guide their children through post-earthquake trauma.
After the Quake, which will air on TV ONE tonight at 8.00 pm, will give parents practical tools to help their children deal with the
emotional toll of the recent severe earthquakes and continuing aftershocks. It will include case studies about how
Christchurch families are dealing with the fall-out.
The programme follows on from a series of free psychological recovery seminars that Latta presented in Christchurch in
April and early May.
The entire initiative, which in addition to the TV special includes, community seminars, a website and collateral with
tips and tools to help parents is a collaboration between New Zealand’s largest life insurer Sovereign and Latta, as
both parties wanted to provide relevant and tangible support for the community.
“Like the rest of New Zealand, our thoughts are with the Christchurch families who continue to suffer from the affects
of February’s earthquakes and the ongoing aftershocks.
“As well as fulfilling our obligations to our customers, we wanted to provide additional support to the people of
Christchurch and to other New Zealanders who have been affected by these traumatic events. Supporting Nigel Latta’s
series was an ideal way for us to provide emotional as well as practical support.”
Latta has presented seven seminars in Christchurch, and has been working with a team of experts in the field to offer
practical advice and ongoing support.
