Mary Potter Hospice Street Appeal 2011 Raises $75,000
Mary Potter Hospice’s 2011 Street Appeal has raised more than $75,000 equalling the amount raised in 2010, Hospice Chief Executive, Ria Earp, announced today.
“This is an incredible result given the current economic climate,” says Ria Earp, “and considering the many recent competing demands such as the Christchurch earthquake, and large national charities holding fundraising appeal weeks.”
“We are very grateful for the heartfelt generosity that the people of Wellington, Porirua and the Kapiti Coast show for Mary Potter Hospice, and their respect for the care and compassion they know we provide for people who are living with a terminal illness, and the support we offer their families.”
Ria Earp said Hospice staff and collectors were very moved by some of public feedback they received for example: “I work at the Hospital - you guys do a fantastic job”... “my friend’s mother died recently at the Hospice so I know what you do”, “the Hospice did such an incredible job with my family member - thank you so much”.
“I would like to publicly thank Hospice staff for their brilliant effort in organising the street appeal and the 650 volunteers who got out on the Friday and Saturday to collect.”
“We as Hospice staff feel proud and privileged to work for an organisation that has such a wonderful place in the hearts and minds of people throughout our community.”
