Last Chance For Writers To Enter National Book Award
New Zealand writers have only two weeks left to enter their printed works into the 2011 Ashton Wylie Charitable Trust
Published Book Award.
The award recognises exceptional published writing talent in the mind body spirit genre with one of the largest prizes
awarded for literature in New Zealand
The Ashton Wylie Charitable Trust, in association with the New Zealand Society of Authors (NZSA), will present a single
award of $10,000 to the winner whose work demonstrates excellence in presentation, as well as a high degree of wisdom
and knowledge of the mind body spirit genre.
Maggie Tarver, Chief Executive Officer for the NZSA is urging local writers to enter their published books into the
prestigious award.
"The Ashton Wylie Charitable Trust Published Book Award is a unique opportunity for published authors whose work
embodies the mind body spirit genre to be both recognised and rewarded for their outstanding writing," says Ms Tarver.
"The award offers the winner the financial resources to be able to continue to fulfil their writing passion and the
opportunity to further showcase their work. We would like to encourage all New Zealand writers to enter."
To be eligible for the awards, writers must be New Zealand citizens residing in the country. Published books must be
submitted by 31 May 2011, should be 48 pages or longer and must have been published between 1 April 2010 and 31 March
2011.
In addition to the published book award category, the Ashton Wylie Charitable Trust and the New Zealand Society of
Authors are also presenting an award for unpublished manuscripts. Entries for this category closed on 31 March 2011.
The Awards will be presented in a ceremony at the Ashton Wylie Charitable Trust's own venue, the Hopetoun Alpha in
Auckland, August 19th 2011.

Writers are also invited to register for the informative "Publishing for Authors" workshop to run in conjunction with
the Ashton Wylie Charitable Trust Literature Awards on Saturday 20th August 2011 at the Hopetoun Alpha, Auckland.
Guest speakers include Steve Messenger of Astra Print, Paula Browning of Copyright Licensing Ltd, Sarah Gumbley, legal
publisher and consultant, and Maria Gill, published author.
