FOO FIGHTERS RAISE OVER AUD$1 MILLION FOR CHARITIES
The Foo Fighters came, they conquered, and they raised a whole lot of cash.
In New Zealand their Auckland charity concert raised NZ$354,903 for the New Zealand Government Christchurch Earthquake Appeal while in Australia their Brisbane charity concert raised AUD$770,717 for the Queensland Premier’s Disaster Relief Appeal.
Fans unanimously declared the gigs once in a life time opportunities – a sentiment echoed by reviewers: “…one of those heart-pumping special shows that you know you're lucky to be at."
New Zealand Herald
“The Foo Fighters blitzed Brisbane’s Riverstage last night and no one at the venue will ever forget it…when 10,000 people punch the air and sing along with a song like Generator that’s a lot of joy in the air when 10 weeks ago there was misery."
Courier Mail, Brisbane
External accounting firms have conducted a comprehensive audit of the two concerts and compiled detailed Profit and Loss reports which are now posted on www.frontiertouring.com for the public to view. These reports detail the costs incurred in staging the Foo Fighters’ charity concerts.
The Frontier Touring Company’s Michael Gudinski said; “The Foo Fighters were determined to help New Zealand and Australia in the aftermath of these terrible disasters. The overwhelming success of the concerts and the more than AUD$1 million raised across the two countries shows how much the Foos care for the people of Australia and New Zealand and they displayed this by staging two of the more memorable rock shows in recent times."
The Frontier Touring Company and the Foo Fighters thank You Am I, Cloud Control, Giants Of Science, Cairo Knife Fight, The Transistors, the media, suppliers, and most importantly those that bought tickets to the concerts in helping to raise funds for such worthy causes.
