This is a unique opportunity in the festival for rookies to stand up and be counted amongst some of the world’s best comedians.
In no particular order the this year’s semi-finalists are Abigail Pye, Antony Wilson, Eli Mathewson, Esteban Vega, Gordon Candy, Guy Montgomery, James Roque, Jonathan Morgan, Josh Ridgley, Mo Kheir, Naomi Moore, Neal Cromien, Paul Amos, Pax Assadi, Peter Dodds, Tim Batt, Will Wood and Scotty Tulloch.
Seven of the semi-finalists will be selected for the Grand Final on Sun 15 May where $2000 in prize money will be at stake plus, of course, the GLORY.
Since it began 16 years ago hundreds of Kiwi’s have made a stand at the Raw Comedy Quest, a high light of the annual New Zealand International Comedy Festival. Some have gone on to enjoy continued success as part time and full time performers. Many others have discovered that all they are good for is a few jokes at the office party. But most importantly all of them have faced human kinds greatest fear – ‘Public Speaking’, with the added expectation of being funny.
