MANAN FREDRIKSSON
Painter/Photographer/Graphic Designer/Photoshopper
Manan has always been involved in something creative, studying photography, working in the film industry and doing endless part-time art courses.
In 2004 she attended the Learning Connexion where she discovered a technique that combined her love of photography, Photoshop and paint! There is a strong photographic influence in her work, and she spends hours manipulating images in Photoshop until she creates something that will work well on canvas. Her pieces for this exhibition are loud, bold and fun.
ALAN GALLOWAY
Musician/Singer/Songwriter/Painter
Born and bred on a farm in Pauatahanui Alan has been throwing paint around in one form or another for a number of years. Whether its interior decoration, painting houses or pushing pigment around a canvas he has never been far away from a paintbrush.
Although performing and writing music is probably his first love, the last few years has seen him spending more time exploring painting and experimenting with a variety of styles.
Now living by the sea, with the backdrop of Mana Island, it was obvious that this almost man-made shape of the island in all its moods was going to crop up in Alan's work. In these recent paintings that theme appears now and again along with other landscapey ideas.
There's nothing too deep and meaningful here, just having fun with colour.
