Nathan Twaddle joins NZ Academy of Sport

Recently retired World Champion rower Nathan Twaddle has been appointed as Athlete Life Advisor at the NZ Academy of Sport North Island.

His role will focus on providing specialist support to athletes competing at the highest level.

Whilst Nathan’s sporting career needs no introduction, the former world champion and Beijing Olympic medallist brings vocational skills and experience to the Academy that may not be so well known.

Nathan is on the NZOC Athletes Commission, has played a key role in the development of adaptive rowing, and demonstrated outstanding leadership within the rowing community.

“Nathan Twaddle represents excellence at the highest level in high performance sport and in personal leadership and we are delighted to have him join our Athlete Life team working with the next cohort of champions,” says Pete Pfitzinger, Chief Executive.

“The role of NZAS as the provider of both resources and knowledge is essential to improve our position on the world sporting stage and I am excited at the prospect of working within the Academy to help achieve those outcomes,” says Nathan.

Nathan has spent the last ten years immersed in one of New Zealand’s most successful high performance environments.

Having contributed to the success of the sport of Rowing, Nathan will now be able to apply his skills, passion and experience to benefit athletes from many sports.
