Wellington Firebirds squad to play Central Stags in Plunket Shield

The Wellington Firebirds squad to play the Central Stags in the ninth round of the 2010/11 Plunket Shield at the Hawkins Basin Reserve, starting Monday 28 March at 10.30am, is:

Grant Elliott (Naenae Old Boys, captain)
Joe Austin-Smellie (North City)
Mark Gillespie (North City)
Harry Boam (Karori)
Dewayne Bowden (North City)
Cameron Merchant (Taita)
Stephen Murdoch (Karori)
Neal Parlane (Onslow)
Jeetan Patel (Eastern Suburbs)
Michael Pollard (North City)
Stewart Rhodes (Onslow)
Malaesaili Tugaga (North City)

There is one change to the Wellington Firebirds squad from that which beat the Auckland Aces by 126 runs last week, with Dewayne Bowden replacing Andy McKay.

McKay has been called up to the BLACKCAPS ICC Cricket World Cup squad as an injury replacement for Kyle Mills.
With their win over Auckland, the Firebirds have moved from fifth to third equal on the Plunket Shield points table with just two rounds to play.
The Firebirds are now four points adrift of leaders the Stags. The points table is:
Central Stags 29, Northern Knights 27, Wellington Firebirds 25, Canterbury Wizards 25, Otago Volts 22, Auckland Aces 8
