An Avalanche Double

Local band Avalanche City outsell all comers for a second week running to lodge another week sitting at the top of the Singles Chart with Love Love Love. The song also ascends to the top of the RadioScope100, giving Dave Baxter and the group a noteworthy sales / airplay double crown.
The tune features on the forthcoming Our New Life Above Ground album due for reissue via Warner Music in mid-April.

The WOMAD Factor
WOMAD (which stands for World of Music, Arts and Dance) is the brainchild of former Genesis lead singer Peter Gabriel. Its Kiwi incantation began life in Auckland prior to shifting to its current Taranaki home in New Plymouth and is now held annually over Taranaki’s Anniversary Weekend.
This week the festival catapults five new entries into the Album Chart, all acts featuring at the event.
Leading the pack, Irish-African act Afro Celt Sound System who return for a third and highest chart turn at #14 as with Capture, their first charter this century. Previously the #32 Volume 1: Sound Magic and #42 Volume 2: Release charted, both in the late '90s.
The other four are all chart debutants: German collective 17 Hippies place El Dorado at #36, Chinese act Hanggai (together two years) chart their Mongolian music set Introducing Hanggai at #37, while #38 is Egyptian-Sudanese outfit Rango’s debut Bride Of The Zar and the ten-voice Creole Choir Of Cuba land Taade-La at #39. They’re known in Cuba as Desandann.
