Jason Kerrison to Entertain Crowd

CRICKET WELLINGTON MEDIA RELEASE
Friday 11 March 2011

Jason Kerrison to Entertain Crowd

The crowd at this Sunday's Fill the Basin charity Twenty20 match will be treated to performances by Jason Kerrison of Op Shop.

"It is great to have a performer of Jason's calibre warm up the crowd," match organiser Stephen Fleming said.

"The crowd is going to be treated to an outstanding day's entertainment with Jason joining the line up of cricketing legends and international celebrities."

Trackside Coverage

Trackside coverage of the day will now be extended to live coverage on free to air CTV, so that even more people in Canterbury can see the match.

"New Zealand has really got in behind the match and thanks to Trackside New Zealanders will be able to see it live," Stephen said.

"It is especially poignant that the match will be carried on CTV. It is a real reminder of what this event is all about."

Fujitsu challenge

The Fujitsu $100,000 challenge for Prime Minster John Key to hit a boundary off Shane Warne is shaping up to a major event.

"There has been a lot of talk about it on radio and we have been getting a tremendous response from the public.

"Personally, I think the Prime Minster is in good form and Fujitsu will be parting with the $100,000," Stephen said.

Kids on the Basin

Kids will have an opportunity to attend a quick coaching session to be run by Cricket Wellington coaches between matches.

From 2.30 pm to 3.30pm the Basin will be turned over to youngsters who will be able to hone their cricket skills in the middle, before the main event.

These kids will be joined by two teams of earthquake affected Christchurch youngsters who are being treated to a day at the cricket with the help of Wellington Region New World Owner Operators, Foodstuffs Wellington Society and Morris Professional Public Relations Ltd.

"These two Canterbury teams will play a quick hit-out during the Kids on the Basin session and will have some special guest coaches.

"Having affected children from Christchurch involved will really make the day. I understand that these youngsters are really excited and we are excited about hosting them," Stephen said.
