Persil: Proud Sponsors of the New Zealand Small Whites

Unilever today announces Persil’s sponsorship of the Small Whites – New Zealand Football’s junior programme – to improve the quality and sustainability of one of New Zealand’s most popular participation sports and inspire more Kiwi kids to have a go .

“At Persil, we believe in the importance of structured and unstructured play, and learning through experience, as part of a healthy, happy childhood. By encouraging kids to have fun and have a go at football, we will foster their development as they learn new skills, build confidence and develop an active lifestyle.

We know football can be a dirty business but now Persil, with the power of pre-treaters, is here to help parents remove stains afterwards and keep their Small Whites brilliantly white,” says Persil’s Senior Brand Manager, Georgia Rogers.

Persil’s sponsorship comes on the heels of New Zealand Football’s recent announcement of their ‘Whole of Football Plan’.

The new plan involves investing in the grassroots level of the game starting with junior football where Small Whites first play and develop. It also aligns all development programmes to deliver a quality experience to all participants and helping them to fall in love with the game and stay involved for life.

Frank van Hattum, New Zealand Football Chairman, says that increasing the profile and enjoyment of playing football in New Zealand hinges on investing in the grassroots elements of the game.

“The Small Whites programme is at the heart of what we do and accounts for 80 percent of participants in football in this country.”

“We’re thrilled to have Persil on board as a new sponsor. With their help, we can work together to improve the quality and enjoyment of the game, and ultimately create football families for life,” says van Hattum.

The All Whites are also behind encouraging kids to have a go with Persil and have just finished filming a television commercial to drive registration in junior football this season. The All Whites will help show their support by dedicating time to a personal training session with the Small Whites and delivering signed All Whites jerseys to a winner’s team.

“It’s great to have Persil’s support and I think it’s really important what they can do to help grow football in New Zealand. Hopefully we can keep kids in the game long-term, and that is something we really need to focus on,” says All Whites defender Ben Sigmund.
