Rockburn Celebrates Gold at the Royal Easter Show 2011
Rockburn Wines Pinot Noir 2009 has again struck gold! This time at the 2011 Royal Easter Show in New Zealand.
Chair of Judges Kate Radburnd, who last year became the first woman to chair a national wine competition in either Australia or New Zealand, said that the; “standard of judging in this years Royal Easter was as high as any show in her 20 years of judging experience”.
Rockburns winemaker, Malcolm Rees-Francis, commented, “This gold medal underpins the wealth of accolades our Pinot Noir has collected both internationally and on the domestic stage – and continues to place Central Otago at the forefront of great Pinot Noir regions. The „09 vintage was a classic for Central Otago, with excellent concentration and character evident in the wines and the Rockburn „09 Pinot is already showing great complexity, poise and grace and it can only improve with age.”
Rockburns Pinot Noir is a blend of fruit from its two vineyard sites at Gibbston and Parkburn in Central Otago.
The latest vintage of Rockburn Wines Pinot Noir has continued a proud tradition of success.
The 2009 Pinot
Noir has also won the award for „Best Pinot Noir and
the Trophy for „Wine of Show at the Association of
Australian Boutique Winemakers Awards 2010;
„Best
Pinot Noir Trophy at the Shanghai International Wine
Challenge 2010; and collected a Blue Gold, Top 100 award at
the Sydney International Wine Competition 2010.
Over the previous ten years, Rockburn Wines have consistently won gold medals and trophies for their Pinot Noirs including the trophy for „Champion Pinot Noir at the 2008 Air New Zealand Awards.
