March is Whio awareness month

Published: Fri 4 Mar 2011 12:23 PM
March is Whio awareness month.
Numbers of Whio, or native blue duck are dangerously low. With less than 3000 of the species left, the Department of Conservation, New Zealand Forest and Bird, Genesis Energy and the Central North Island Blue Duck Trust have joined forces this month to raise awareness of the native Whio. We’d like your help too.
…everything you need to tell New Zealand about our native Whio.
Because if we don’t do something, the ten dollar note is the only place we’ll be seeing the Whio in the future.
