Touched as we all have been by the earthquake that shook Christchurch at 12.51pm on the 22nd of February, OPSHOP will be donating all proceeds from the iTunes sales of their new single Love Will Always Win, to the City that all members of the band proudly call home.
The song is now live on iTunes as a special single release for anyone wishing to support this initiative.
OPSHOP was due to release the music video for Love Will Always Win within the next few weeks, but due to some of the content contained within the video footage and out of respect for the people of Christchurch, the decision has been made to postpone the release of this video at this point in time.
The band has however teamed up with Adam Jones from Zoomslide Film Production and offered their song Love Will Always Win to be used as the soundtrack to a user generated video that will be created by Zoomslide using video footage supplied by the public.
OPSHOP wish to encourage anyone and everyone from anywhere in New Zealand, and throughout the world for that matter, to upload video footage of their messages for the people of Christchurch so that they know they are not alone during this time.
Says OPSHOP front-man Jason Kerrison, “The aim is to also obtain video footage of what people are and have been doing to help out around the city. There's great stuff going on out there and it's the kind of positive message and spirit that OPSHOP wish to incorporate into the video. It could be as simple as people holding a BBQ for their neighbours without power, or students shoveling dirt.”
“The only thing people should remember though, is that as there will be no audio in the completed video, they should think about using visual signage if they think it necessary.”
A special group has been set up at www.vimeo.com and all people have to do to upload their video footage is become a member of Vimeo which is free, join the group Message for Christchurch and then upload away.
