Operatunity - the return of Three Tenors and a Soprano
Operatunity presents the return of Three Tenors and a
Soprano
The cast that received standing
ovations from sold-out shows in 2010 are back by popular
demand, returning to the stage to celebrate a decade of
Operatunity’s Daytime Concert Series.
The stellar line-up includes the famous New Zealand three tenors Benjamin Fifita Makisi, Bonaventure-Allan Moetaua and Derek Hill and soprano Susan Boland with pianist Alex Wiltshire. The touring group will perform together in 26 venues nation-wide.
These exceptional artists present a brand new concert of inspiring repertoire featuring signature songs of the great tenors, both past and present.
“Everyone’s heard of The Three Tenors and The Irish Tenors, but now New Zealand can take pride in having our own talented Three Tenors,” says Operatunity director Geoffrey Hughes.
Included in the repertoire are favourite arias and ballads such as ‘You are my heart’s delight’, ‘Granada’, ‘You raise me up’ and ‘Battle Hymn of the Republic’, as well as arias from Carmen and Tosca.
Award-winning Operatunity features professional singers and musicians in eight specially-themed concerts at 25 venues throughout New Zealand. The company provides quality entertainment to those who prefer to go out during the day rather than at night, and offers audiences a chance to interact with the artists from the shows who share lunch with them afterward. Among other mentions, Operatunity was named Top Group for the 2009 Variety Artist Club awards, and has been featured on the Good Morning show, Tagata Pasifika, Close-up, national radio and the Jim Sutton in recent years.
Company director and singer Susan Boland says Operatunity is a unique kind of concert experience, in that it offers the audience a chance to meet and get to know the performers on a regular basis.
“People often create lasting friendships and meet lots of new people each month at the concerts, while listening to a variety of music,” says Boland.
The stars of the upcoming Three Tenors and Soprano concert which will launch on March 7 released a CD entitled 3 Tenors and a Soprano to great success last year. They are now recording a second volume after responding to countless requests, which will be available at the concerts.
